Promoting Peace
Empowering Students to Make Their World Better One Action at a Time
What Makes Promoting Peace Different?
A Unique Perspective
Byron delivers a unique perspective on bullying and violence prevention developed partnering with schools, teachers, and counselors to better serve the needs of at risk youth. In addition to learning from a wide range of students in the US, he brings a perspective from teaching in Japan, working with youth and families from diverse backgrounds and in a wide range of settings in rural, urban, and suburban communities, and mentoring speakers in over 26 states.
Experience Your Students will Trust
Promoting Peace has been given in hundreds of high schools in 26 states and in over 70 Colleges and Universities on 3 continents. I have worked with youth from diverse backgrounds and in a wide range of settings. I have examples I KNOW your students will relate to because students in so many schools have related to them before. I have received feedback from literally thousands of students and hundreds of teachers, in a variety of situations.
Involve Your Students
Nothing is more boring to a student than sitting there and listening to some speaker they don't even know preach to them. That's why Promoting Peace involves students in the discussion. By asking questions, students develop answers.for themselves.
I use a framework that I have used with students of all aptitudes, abilities, ages, I don't preach to them. I guide students to decide for themselves what hey need to do.
Focusing on What Unites Us
Regardless of age, race, religion, gender, level of education, or life status, we share so much in common. No matter what the audience, the comments from students about respect, and actions to make a difference are always very similar.
Sharing the commonalities of students builds a bond among students and provides them with ideas and actions to make a positive impact in their lives, their communities, and in their world.

The Four Pillars of Promoting Peace
Stress is Inevitable. Your Response is Not.
Our students live in stressful times! Stress is inevitable but our reaction to it is not. Being able to recognize stress is the first step to developing strategies to minimize it.
Respect is Foundational. Respect Respect.
I've learned from speaking to people around the world that MOST PEOPLE know what's right. Students generate principals of RESPECT to apply to their daily interactions.
Action Speaks Louder Than Words. Be the Change.
Action speaks louder than words. Action causes REACTION. We examine simple actions we can all do at home, at school, in our community, and in the world to make a positive difference.
We Must Act with Integrity. We Can Develop Integrity.
Being able to do what you need to do is the key to success. Integrity can be developed with some simple steps and actions that every student can do everyday.
Know and Do to Promote Peace
Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Willing is not enough; we must do.
